How I became
a career coach

At the age of 13 Anthony had his career all planned out. He wanted to be an international marketing executive. But life didn’t work out like that.

Anthony’s career story

“After university I did my MBA at Cranfield School of Management and joined executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles in their London office. Heidrick was fast-growing, entrepreneurial, and a leader in the industry. A great place for me to learn my trade.

After a few years with Heidrick in Germany I moved back to the UK where I led the technology practice for a while and became the “go-to” person for everything to do with the internet when the dot com boom started to change everything for us.

Around this time Heidrick set up LeadersOnline as its dot-come business and I was invited to build that business in Europe. LeadersOnline not only contributed significantly to the European revenues for Heidrick & Struggles; it also leveraged faster, better and smarter ways of working. Since then I have continued to challenge the old ways of working  in the three businesses that I’ve co-founded:”

Late-stage career change doesn’t need to be frustrating

Changing jobs gets harder as we progress in our careers. For CEOs and senior executives used to making things happen, this can be immensely frustrating.

Senior executives want to find a role that is rewarding and fulfilling. The longer it takes to find that ideal role, the more frustrating and demoralising it becomes. The techniques that were valid ten or twenty years ago no longer work.

Frantically sending out CVs and adding buzzwords to the LinkedIn profile is not going to help. This risks damaging your personal brand and alienating your network. In the end it simply adds to your frustration.

There is another way, one that is built on a solid and credible personal brand, and a focused strategy to activate and expand your network. The more people who have a clear idea of your ideal role and what you have to offer, the more likely you are to unearth suitable opportunities.

I have a process and a methodology that will help you to manage this next stage in your work life journey. It starts with rediscovering your purpose, resetting your narrative, and reengaging your network.

Don’t wait for something to come along. Manage your own career. Book a call now to find out how a career coach can help you to successfully navigate your career change.

“What helped was joining the dots. Anthony helped me to get my story straight, put it out in a unified manner across various platforms, and that then gave me the direction and focus to get the story out there.”
